“While en route to the call, the officers encountered a vehicle stopped in the middle of Maxwell Street near the intersection with Patterson Street,” McMann said. “The victim jumped from the vehicle as the officers were approaching, and told the officers her boyfriend had a gun.”

McMann said then the officers contacted the boyfriend, who was later identified as Williams.

“The investigation revealed that Williams entered the victim’s vehicle armed with a handgun, and forced her to start driving,” he said. “As the victim drove down the street, Williams fired one round out of the open window. The officers recovered the handgun and the spent shell casing.”

Williams was then transported to the Escambia County Detention Center in Brewton.
