Cougars fall to Wilcox Academy in first round of AISA 1A state playoffs

Escambia Academy fell 12-3 and 10-0 to Wilcox Academy Tuesday night in the first round of the AISA Class 1A state playoffs in Camden.
The Cougars ended their season 6-12.

The Cougars shot out to an early lead after the first inning, but WA countered with four runs in the third, one run in the fourth and six runs in the sixth inning.
Grant Sasser went 3-for-4with an RBI to lead EA. Traegan James, Jackson Bartley and Lane Milstead had two hits each.
Hayden Sheets struck out six and allowed six earned runs on 11 hits in 5.0 innings for EA.
Andrew Malone Steele Swanner and Cason Martens had two hits each to lead WA.

Wilcox Academy scored three runs in the first inning, five runs in the second and one run each in the fourth and fifth.
Julian Curry allowed three hits and struck out eight in 5.0 innings to earn the win on the mound.
James, Milstead and Dagen Slate collected one hit each for EA.
