A Perdido man was arrested April 15 on possession of drug charges, according to the Atmore Police Department.
Public Information Officer Sgt. Darrell McMann said in a release that Jonathan Owens, 44, was charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
McMann said at approximately 2 p.m. on Tuesday, an APD officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on North Main Street in reference to the driver, Owens, having two outstanding misdemeanor arrest warrants with the department.
“Upon taking Owens into custody, a K-9 unit was deployed and the K-9 alerted on the vehicle,” McMann said. “The officers searched the vehicle and discovered a small amount of a crystal-like substance that field tested for methamphetamine and items that are used to ingest narcotics.”
Owens was then transported to the Escambia County Detention Center in Brewton.
