The Atmore Police Department is asking any community groups, civic organizations or churches if they’re interested in a safety presentation regarding online child exploitation.

Public Information Officer Sgt. Darrell McMann said in a release that online child exploitation and abuse is one of the most heinous and urgent threats to our children.

“The Atmore Police Department, through this public service announcement, wishes to increase public awareness of online child sexual exploitation and abuse,” McMann said. “To encourage parents and trusted adults to start the conversation with their children, the Atmore Police Department is introducing an Online Safety Presentation.”

McMann said the powerpoint presentation hopes to provide parents and guardians with helpful information, prevention tools to protect their children and share best practices to respond to their child if something happens. “The presentation includes advice on how to manage inappropriate content, grooming, online enticement, sextortion, sexting and cyberbullying of your children,” McMann said.

Those who are interested are asked to contact McMann at 251-368-9141 ext. 1174 or by email at darrell.mcmann@atmorepolice.us.
