Atmore man arrested April 17 on possession of drug, firearm charges

An Atmore man was arrested on firearm and possession of drug charges April 17, according to officials.

Atmore Police Department Public Information Officer Sgt. Darrell McMann said in a release that Theron Riley, 28, was being searched for by the department on several outstanding misdemeanor arrest warrants.

“Riley was contacted by officers and taken into custody on Jack Springs Road,” McMann said. “Upon searching Riley after taking him into custody, officers discovered he was in possession of over 2 grams of marijuana. Upon search his vehicle, the officers discovered he was in possession of a firearm.”

McMann said Riley was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana I, certain persons forbidden to possess a firearm and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Riley was transported to the Escambia County Detention Center in Brewton.
