An Atmore woman was arrested April 18 on possession of drug charges, according to officials.
Atmore Police Department Public Information Officer Sgt. Darrell McMann said in a release that Heather Shanks, 41, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
McMann said on Friday night at approximately 11, an APD officer conducted a traffic stop on Old Bratt Road on a vehicle not displaying a license plate. The officer then made contact with the driver, Shanks.
“During the officer’s interaction with Shanks, the officer discovered her driver license was revoked, there was no insurance on the vehicle and the owner of the vehicle was not her,” McMann said. “The officer requested a wrecker come to the scene.”
McMann said during an inventory of the vehicle before the vehicle was towed, the officer discovered a small amount of synthetic cannabis (spice) and items used to ingest narcotics.
Shanks was then transported to the Escambia County Detention Center in Brewton.
