Some local churches have come together to sponsor a free Christian movie viewing, which will be held tonight at 6 at the Strand Theatre.

First Methodist Church of Atmore Pastor Mike von Keyserling said the event is a first come first serve type of event.

“I’m hoping for a packed house, which should equate to 160 people in the audience,” von Keyserling said.

The movie is “The Forge.” The movie emphasizes the importance of discipleship and how faith can inspire courage, hope and positive change, von Keyserling said.

von Keyserling said there are a few reasons why local churches came together to sponsor the viewing.

He said they want to bring a little joy and hope to the community; to provide uplifting and engaging messages through the medium of film; to help inspire a spirit of Christian unity and shared values; and to foster fellowship and understanding.

“If this is successful, we hope to bring other faith-based movies to our wonderful town through out the year,” von Keyserling said.
