A meet and greet sponsored by the Yellow Hats Society was held for Escambia County head football coach Tommie Lewis Jr. on April 29 at Atmore City Hall.
The program included a welcome by Mayor Pro-Tem Shawn Lassiter, and updates from Escambia County Deputy Superintendent Shaun Goolsby, Chief Chuck Brooks, ECHS Principal Latonya Gill and Lewis.
Lewis, who has extensive college coaching experience, said his dream was to be a head coach.
Lewis said his heart is in Atmore.
“I love it here,” he said. “I’m getting a chance to pour into their lives. This is not only a job to me, it’s a ministry.”
Lewis defined the Blue Devil standard, which includes discipline, accountability, respect and family.
He helped define what an ECHS student athlete is, and the importance to focus, or to follow one course until successful.
