Escambia County High School Students De’myia Munlyn and Jontavious Richardson were focused on their goal – to fill the Atmore Community Blessing Box.
School officials and community members celebrated the grand opening of the community box May 5.
ECHS Culinary Arts, Hospitality and Event Planning Teacher Taylor Rolin said the project was led by the school’s FCCLA Club, and built by the construction program. All items were donated for the box.
Rolin said the initiative, which was student led, provides non-perishable food, hygiene items and other essentials to those in need. The box is accessible 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
“Members of the community are welcome to come and take what they need, and put back what they bring,” Rolin said.
Before packing the box with donated items, Munlyn and Richardson spoke about the blessing box.
“This box belongs to all of us,” they said.
