Martha Sue (Hale) Sanford, 85, of Olive Branch, Miss., went to be with the Lord Jesus Christ on May 4, 2025, after a long battle with cancer.

Martha Sue was born July 6, 1939 in Atmore to John P. Hale and Blanche T. Hale.

She is survived by her loving and devoted husband, John C. Sanford II of Olive Branch; daughter and son in law, Emily Turner (Sanford) Hugh and Mark Hugh, of Southaven, Miss.; son, John C. Sanford III; sister and brother in law, Jonni Lynn (Hale) Oakes and Bill Oakes of Burnt Corn; three grandchildren, Emily L. (Hugh) Blakeney (Connor) of Nashville, Tenn., James A Hugh (Kaylee) of Memphis, Tenn. and Amie Stanley of Pelham.

She was preceded in death by both of her parents; and her brother, Rodney Hale.

Graveside services were held on May 8, 2025 at Oak Hill Cemetery in Atmore, with Bro. Nolan Butler officiating. Interment followed in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
