Atmore man arrested May 19 on misdemeanor warrant, failing to register as a sexual offender

An Atmore man was arrested May 19 on a misdemeanor warrant and failing to register as an adult sexual offender charges, according to officials.

Atmore Police Department Public Information Officer Sgt. Darrell McMann said in a release that Jimmy Nord, 39, was arrested on an outstanding misdemeanor arrest warrant and charged with failing to register as an adult sexual offender.

McMann said on Monday, an APD officer arrested Nord in reference to the warrant with the APD.

“During the booking process, the officers discovered that Nord is a convicted sexual offender who is required to register with APD if he is living in the Atmore city limits,” McMann said. “Nord claimed he lived in the Monroeville, Ala. area, but after further investigation, he had not registered with the Monroeville Police Department, Monroe County Sheriffs Office, Atmore Police Department or the Escambia County, Ala. Sheriff’s Office. Officers discovered he was living within the Atmore city limits.”

Nord was then transported to the Escambia County Detention Center in Brewton.
