CHAMPIONSHIP BOUND: Lady Chiefs beat Branford 14-6 in state semifinal, to play Trenton in title game Wednesday

Northview’s Lady Chiefs overcame an early deficit and beat Branford, Fla. 14-6 in the FHSAA Class Rural Softball State Semifinal Game at Boombah Soldiers-Creek Park in Longwood.
BHS took a 5-0 lead in the first, but the resilient Lady Chiefs bounced back with five runs of its own the following frame. NHS took a lead it wouldn’t give up in the third with three runs.
Northview’s Avery Stuckey and Mikayla McAnally went 3-for-4 each to lead the Lady Chiefs. Stuckey added two RBIs.
Daviona Randolph went 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBIs; and Aubrey Hadley went 2-for-3 with two RBIs.
Riley Brooks went 1-for-3 with three RBIs and two runs; Jamison Gilman went 1-for-5; and Kylee Langham went 1-for-3 with a run.
McAnally won the game in the circle, striking out six, allowing six earned runs on 11 hits in 6.0 innings. Gilman came in in relief, striking out two in 1.0 innings.
Five Branford players had two hits each.
With the victory, the Lady Chiefs advance to the Class Rural State Championship game, where they’ll face Trenton. The championship will be held on Wed., May 21, at 1:30 p.m. EST.
