McDavid, Fla. men arrested May 27-28 on theft charges

Two McDavid, Fla. men were arrested May 27-28 on theft charges, according to the Atmore Police Department.

Public Information Officer Sgt. Darrell McMann said in a release that Cody McNeil, 27, and Dennis Comalander, 50, were arrested and charged with theft of property I.

McMann said on May 19, an APD officer responded to Parker and Sons regarding to a stolen side by side.

“The business checked their security cameras, and realized the side by side had actually been stolen twice the same night on May 18,” McMann said. “Atmore Police Department investigators worked with Escambia County, Fla. Sheriffs Office investigators and recovered the side by side at a residence in McDavid.”

McMann said investigators identified McNeil and Comalander.

McNeil (allegedly) stole the side by side just after midnight, and returned it about an hour later,” McMann said. “Comalander then (allegedly) stole the same side by side soon after. The side by side was recovered at Comalander’s residence.”

McMann said investigators obtained warrants on Comalander and McNeil for theft of property I.

McNeil was arrested by an Atmore police officer on May 27, 2025 and was transported to the Escambia County Detention Center in Brewton. Comalander was arrested by an Escambia County, Fla. Sheriff’s Deputy on May 28, 2025 and was transported to the Escambia County, Fla. Detention Center.

Comalander is awaiting extradition back to Alabama.
