An Atmore man was arrested May 30 on possession of drug charges, according to officials.
Atmore Police Department Public Information Officer Sgt. Darrell McMann said in a release that Quantilan Packer, 38, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana II.
McMann said on Friday at approximately 10:55 a.m., an APD officer conducted a traffic stop on Brown Street because a vehicle ran a stop sign. The officer then contacted the driver, Packer.
“When the officer contacted Packer, the officer noted the strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle,” McMann said. “The officer conducted a probable cause search of the vehicle, and discovered a small amount of marijuana, several amphetamine pills and items used to ingest narcotics.”
Packer was then was transported to the Escambia County Detention Center in Brewton.
