Atmore Police Department Public Information Officer Sgt. Darrell McMann said in a release that Jeremiah Lord, 25, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and tampering with physical evidence.

McMann said at approximately 10:45 a.m. on Saturday, an APD officer conducted a traffic stop on Brooks Lane in reference to the passenger, later identified as Lord, allegedly tossing an object out of the vehicle.

“The officer stopped and inspected the object, and discovered it was several grams of methamphetamine,” he said. “The officer was able to contact the driver and the vehicle, but the passenger who was later identified as Jeremiah Johnson Lord age 25 of Atmore, was not there. The driver advised the officer that Lord had walked back to get what he threw out of the window.”

McMann said backup officers were able to find Lord walking in the area, and he admitted he threw the drugs out of the vehicle.

Lord was then transported to the Escambia County Detention Center in Brewton.
