A Pensacola, Fla. man was arrested June 2 on possession, public intoxication and resisting arrest charges, according to the Atmore Police Department.
Public Information Officer Sgt. Darrell McMann said in a release that Timothy Thomas, 55, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, public intoxication, obstructing governmental operations and resisting arrest.
McMann said at approximately 4:25 p.m. Monday, APD officers responded to Burger King in reference to an angry intoxicated customer attempting to fight with employees over his belief that his order was wrong. In fact, after further investigation, the order was correct, McMann said.
“The customer, later identified as Thomas, attempted to jump the counter to fight with the employees,” McMann said. “Thomas had a strong odor of alcohol, and refused to cooperate with the officers. The officers informed Thomas he was under arrest, and he refused to comply. After a brief struggle, Thomas was taken into custody.”
McMann said a search incident to arrest was conducted, and officers found numerous oxycodone pills in his possession.
Thomas was transported to the Escambia County Detention Center in Brewton.
