An Atmore man was arrested June 20 on possession of drug charges, according to officials.
Atmore Police Department Public Information Officer Sgt. Darrell McMann said in a release that Damien Cole, 34, was arrested and charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
McMann said at approximately 11:15 a.m. on the day of the arrest, an APD officer responded to the 1100 block of McRae Street in reference to a domestic disturbance.
McMann said a family member informed the officer that Cole was allegedly under the influence of narcotics and was acting strangely.
“The officer contacted Cole at a second location, and immediately recognized that Cole was behaving strangely and detained him,” McMann said. “During the course of the investigation, the officer discovered that Cole was in possession of a small amount of cocaine, methamphetamine and items used to ingest narcotics.”
Cole was then transported to the Escambia County Detention Center in Brewton.
