Bill Stuckey announced recently his candidacy for the District 1 seat of the Atmore City Council.

Stuckey

Stuckey was born in Mobile in 1961 to Byron and Clara Stuckey, and moved to Atmore after leaving active duty military service in 1993. He is married to Grace Marie, and they have three children, James, Devon and Tammy.
Stuckey said he moved away from Atmore for a short time, but returned in 2003.
“My wife and I love our town and wouldn’t want to live anywhere else,” Stuckey said. “I’ve watched it grow over the last couple of decades and saw it flourish in the 13 years under the leadership of Mayor Jim Staff. Being the husband of a Poarch Creek Indian tribal member, I’ve also witnessed the successful collaboration of our city and the Tribe in promoting new businesses and continued growth of our existing ones. If elected to the Atmore City Council, representing the first district, it will be my mission to continue this trend.”
Stuckey has been retired since December of 2014. At present, he’s the pastor at Moyeville Baptist Church, a small church in the Moyeville Community, just outside Flomaton.
He has served as a registered nurse with the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Department, the Correctional Medical Services and the G.K. Fountain Correctional Center.
Stuckey served in a combat support hospital, and his duties included trauma team member and emergency room nurse for a 110-bed field hospital in Saudi Arabia during the Gulf War and Mogadishu.
Stuckey is a Logos University and Jefferson Davis Community College graduate. He also graduated from the Alabama Correctional Academy in Selma.
He also attended the Academy of Health Sciences at Ft. Sam Houston in Texas, and graduated from Flomaton High School in 1980.
