Shane Harrell and the Major Moves kept Mayfest rocking Saturday at Tom Byrne Park.

Mayfest brought the heat Saturday bringing fun and entertainment to Tom Byrne Park with crowds braving the hot temperatures to come out to Atmore’s spring festival.

With Shane Harrell and the Major Moves headlining the event, members of the crowd danced to the beats of classic rock and country songs all afternoon, while taking in games and shopping as well.

Despite the sun scorching down, the event received good reviews, Atmore Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Sheryl Vickery said.

“I thought it went very well,” Vickery said. “I was pleased the organization and every bit of Mayfest.”

Aside from the organization, the environment of the event, from the vendors to the crowd, gave the Chamber something to hang its hat on.

The friendly atmosphere really helped people show their happiness, Vickery said.

“The vendors love to come to Atmore,” she said. “People just tell us more and more that they love to come here and that the hospitality is great. Every one was just pleased.”
