Two Atmore women were arrested Friday on drug charges after authorities were alerted that one of the women possessed a forged prescription.

Scott Walden, 21st Judicial Drug Task Force agent, said agents made contact with Auburn Meadows Simmons, 29, of Jack Springs Road, and Danielle Boyington, 22, of Taylor Circle, in the Buy Rite parking lot after the store called about a possible forged prescription for Lortab.

“They were familiar with the doctor,” Walden said. “He’s a mental health doctor and they don’t prescribe Lortab. The doctor advised he did not write the prescription.”

In addition, the name and date of birth on the prescription were incorrect, Walden said. It was also dated for 2012 instead of 2013, he said.

Meadows was charged with attempt to commit a controlled substance crime, while Boyington was charged with second-degree marijuana possession.
