A group of local bikers were out for more than just a morning joy ride Saturday when they hit the road for a roughly two hour trip around the Atmore area. The bikers, who departed Tom Byrne Park a little after 10 a.m.,  were on a mission to help Atmore Community Hospital’s Relay For Life team raise funds.

Welcoming the riders back to the park at noon were locals cooking BBQ sandwiches and the band, Big Daddy’s Remedy on stage at the main gazebo.

Samantha Bennett, one of the event’s organizers, said the turnout was not quite as large as they had hoped, but still expected to raise a fair amount of money.

“We didn’t have a lot of riders last year and we still raised $800,” Bennett said.
