Schuver named Atmore Advance publisher

Justin Schuver has been named the president of Atmore Newspapers, Inc., and publisher of The Atmore Advance and its associated media products.

Schuver, 30, comes to Atmore from Bainbridge, Ga., where he served as the managing editor of The Post-Searchlight.

“I am quite excited about the challenges and opportunities that are ahead in Atmore,” Schuver said. “The Advance already has a fantastic staff that does great work, and I look forward to helping that news organization improve even further and become the best that it can be.

Schuver is originally from Gadsden, Ala., and grew up in a newspaper family. His father, Michael Schuver, is the publisher of The Tri-Lakes News in Branson, Mo., and an executive with Lancaster Newspapers, Inc.

The younger Schuver  graduated from the University of Notre Dame (Ind.) in May 2005, with a bachelor of arts degree in English.

Prior to working at The Post-Searchlight, Schuver worked as the sports editor at The Hartselle (Ala.) Enquirer (2005-07), copy editor/reporter at The Andalusia (Ala.) Star-News (2007-09) and managing editor at The McDuffie Progress in Thomson, Ga. (2009-11). The Enquirer and Star-News are both owned by Boone Newspapers, Inc., the parent company of The Post-Searchlight and The Advance.

Schuver is single and plans to attend St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church.
