Atmore man arrested for 3 thefts

An Atmore man was arrested Thursday, and is accused of being responsible for three recent home burglaries.

Joshua Brian Ellis, 30, of Atmore, was charged with three counts of third-degree burglary and was transported to the Escambia County Detention Center in Brewton.

According to an Atmore Police Department release, investigators with the Atmore Police Department and Escambia County Sheriff’s Office searched Ellis’ home Thursday. They discovered a large amount of jewelry in the home, and Ellis reportedly told the law enforcement officials that the jewelry had been stolen from a home on Oak Street.

Ellis also confessed about another home that he had burglarized on Fifth Avenue. During the investigation, officers were also able to recover property that had been reportedly stolen from a home on Poplar Street.

Investigators estimate the property recovered had a total value of about $5,000. Additional arrests may be pending on this case, they said.
