HES students Daphne Turner and Rayya Cao have enjoyed using the iPads that the school was able to buy, after receiving a grant from the Poarch Band of Creek Indians.

Thanks to the generosity of the Poarch Band of Creek Indians, Huxford Elementary School has been able to purchase much-needed upgrades and equipment for its students.

Ashley Trawick, counselor at HES, said that the school has found many uses for the $250,406.20 grant that was awarded by the PCI Education Department last year.

Thanks to the grant, the school was able to purchase sidewalk awnings for the entire campus. In addition, renovations were made to classrooms in the original school building, including plaster repair and new paint, blinds, lighting and desks.

The grant also helped the school purchase Apple iPads for every classroom, as well as storage carts that also included iPad chargers.

“Huxford Elementary School would like to say a big thank you to the Poarch Band of Creek Indians for their generous grant,” Trawick said. “This generosity has made possible many campus improvements, classroom renovations and technology upgrades.”
