Kenny Smith, wastewater superintendent for West Escambia Utilities, said that recent rain has resulted in a discharge of raw sewage.

The discharge primarily affects the manhole at the corner of Wilson Avenue and Ridgley Street, Smith said.

Residents are encouraged to avoid any contact with the spilled sewage until it is cleaned up.
