Rotary Club to help improve playgroundPublished 5:54pm Tuesday, April 1, 2014
The Atmore Rotary Club will be busy with its own “spring cleaning” project Saturday morning, helping to improve the playground at the Atmore Area YMCA.
The club recently raised $1,000 and the Rotary Foundation provided a matching grant of another $1,000. The $2,000 will be used to clean up, refurbish and upgrade the playground.
Club members will be at the YMCA on Saturday morning to begin working on the project. The goal is to have it completed by the Healthy Kids Day on April 26, according to Paul Chason, CEO of the Atmore Area YMCA.
The club raised the $1,000 over the span of the previous year, as members gave small donations — usually $1 or loose pocket change — during the club’s weekly lunch meetings.
