I-65 crash victim’s name not yet released

Trooper Jamie Maloy said late Friday evening that the Alabama State Troopers are not yet ready to release the name of the person killed in a nine-vehicle crash on Interstate 65 on Thursday afternoon.

Malaya said that the identity of the deceased is being withheld, pending positive identification from the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences.

The crash occurred at 5:17 p.m. on Thursday, and five other people were injured in the accident involving three tractor-trailers and six passenger cars. Maloy said the five injured people were transported to local hospitals for treatment.

The accident took place near the 68.8-mile marker on Interstate 65 northbound, close to the Flomaton/Wallace exit.

No further information is available, as the Alabama State Troopers continue to investigate, Maloy said.
