A long table full of good food and fellowship will be in order for the first ever Ribs on Ridgeley fundraising event on Oct. 15.

Ribs on Ridgeley is an outdoor dining event that will be held on Ridgeley Street in Atmore.

Pride of Atmore Committee Chairman Bub Gideons said the event is an outside of the box idea that was conceived by Foster Kizer.

“We decided on dining in the middle of the street,” Gideons said. “We just kind of ran with the idea. There on Ridgeley, we have a lot of businesses on a compact street.”

Gideons said having Artmore on Ridgeley and seeing the success it had had a lot to do with deciding where to hold the first ever fundraising event.

Tickets cost $40 for a dinner. Proceeds go toward the fundraising drive to finish up the roof of the Strand Theatre. Additionally, the Pride of Atmore is also raising money for refurbishing the perpendicular neon sign and the marquee signs on the theatre front.

“These proceeds go directly toward putting a roof on the theatre,” Gideons said. “We’ll have it high and dry and then will be able to move forward with renovations.”

Gideons said there will be enough ribs cooked for 225 people.

“It’s going to be a long, continuous table,” he said.

Tickets can be purchased at PHD Realty or the Atmore News, or those interested can call Gideons at 251-359-6523 or Tom Tschida at 251-359-0080.

The dinner event runs from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m.

Gideons said the committee decided to hold the fundraiser at this time of year because of the cooler weather.

However, if there is inclement weather, the dinner will be moved to The Club on Highway 21.
