Special to the Advance

Wind Creek Casino & Hotel Atmore turned its Christmas lights on last week, and casino officials said they are bigger and better than ever.

The lights and decorations will be on display through New Year’s Eve.

Outside, the lights are set on sensors and will light up each evening at sunset and remain on until sunrise the next morning. There will be 3.5 million lights installed by Sound Associates Inc. of Theodore. The Christmas Village includes a Rockin’ Rudolph, marching toy soldiers, a nativity, Santa in Toyland, sparkling candy canes and more than 100 twinkling, lighted trees. The centerpiece of the winter wonderland is a 30-foot tall, lighted tree. The display is a gift to the community from the Poarch Creek Indians and admission is free to everyone.

Inside, each of the 19 trees has a different theme. Fire Steakhouse has a tree with fire spewing from its top, and the sound music lounge has a tree with musical instruments on it.

In addition to the new lights being added, another surprise awaits for younger guests. On Dec. 19, a singing Santa will be visiting the WCA entertainment center from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. Santa will sing Christmas carols and take pictures with the guests. Both young and young at heart are sure to be delighted with the treasures to be found throughout the displays and entertainment offerings.
