3 injured in Atmore crash

Three people suffered injuries in an early-morning two-vehicle crash on Jack Springs Road on Tuesday morning, according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agencey.

Lt. Joe Piggott said at approximately 6:15 a.m. on Oct. 3, at 2002 International dump truck, driving by Charles McDowell, of Atmore, was making a left turn at the intersection of Freemanville Road when it was struck from behind by a 2001 GMC 1500 pickup truck. He said the GMC was driven by Jonathan Wayne McGhee of Atmore.

“McGhee and two passengers in his vehicle were transported to area hospitals for treatment of non life threatening injuries.

Piggott said alcohol is believed to have been a contributing factor in the crash.

No further information is available as Alabama State Troopers continue to investigate.
