Gulf Winds raising funds for Gulf Coast

The Deepwater Horizon oil spill is causing problems for more than the tourism and fishing industries along the Gulf Coast and Gulf Winds Federal Credit Union is making a commitment to help.

Lee Ann Allen, manager of the Atmore branch of the institution, said the commitment of Gulf Winds is to serve the areas they serve by making a matching donation to assist in the care and rehabilitation of birds injured by the spill.

“Gulf Winds Credit Union is committed to the communities that we serve and we know that the disaster in the Gulf will impact our community and surrounding areas adversely for many years to come,” Allen said. “We are excited to be able to offer a matching fund up to $50,000 for the care and rehabilitation of birds that have been caught in the oil spill.”
