State Senate District 22 candidate Danny Joyner said Thursday he is glad the “people’s vote” will stand in the Republican primary.
Joyner survived a primary challenge from fellow GOP candidate Jeff Peacock on Wednesday. Peacock argued that Joyner did not properly report the donation of billboard advertising on a financial disclosure form.
Joyner said the billboards — which included the phrase “not a paid political advertisement” were done independent of his campaign.
“I am glad and encouraged that the people’s vote was respected,” Joyner said. “I’m looking forward to the campaign and trying to bring everyone together.
Joyner will face Democratic incumbent Marc Keahey of Grove Hill in the November general election.
