NWE Softball All-Stars win district tourney

The Northwest Escambia 11-12-year-old softball All-Stars won the Little League Florida District 1 championship last Friday in Walnut Hill, Fla.

The softball players for Northwest Escambia were undefeated throughout the tournament last week at Bradberry Park.

In the first, game, Northwest Escambia defeated Defuniak Springs 12-2 in four innings.

Mallory Ryan pitched two innings recording two strikeouts and one walk.

Courtney Peebles pitched the final two innings also striking out two and walking one.

Kyndall Hall, Kendal Cobb, Addy Lee and Ryan all scored two runs in the win for NWE.

Penny Banda, Kristen Byrd, Savanna Roux and Peebles all scored one run in the victory.

Niceville 1

In their second game, Northwest Escambia’s 11-12-year-old softball All-Stars crushed Niceville 5-1.

Mallory Ryan pitched all six innings for NWE strking out six batters in the win.

Offensively, NWE was led by five batters who each scored one run each.

Peighton Dortch, Kristen Byrd, Courtney Peebles, Penny Banda and Mallory Ryan all scored one run each in the victory.

NWE 4

Niceville 1

In the championship game of the District 1 softball tournament at Bradberry Park, the Northwest Escambia 11-12-year-old softball All-Stars defeated Niceville 4-1 to claim the Little League Florida District 1 championship.

Mallory Ryan led the NWE All-Stars on the mound striking out six and giving up two walks.

Kyndall Hall went 3-for-3 at the plate scoring two runs in the process.

Addy Lee and Kristen Byrd both scored runs in the championship to help their team get the win.

Courtney Peebles led the team with two RBI.

The NWE 11-12-year-old All-Stars now advance to the 2010 Florida Section 1 tournament in Tallahassee on July 17.
