Escambia County under Tornado Watch

Escambia and surrounding counties remain under a Tornado Watch until 2:00 p.m. this afternoon, according to Escambia County EMA Director David Adams.

A Tornado Watch means that conditions are favorable for the development of tornadoes.

Adams said a line of thunderstorms is moving into Escambia County from the west in front of an approaching cold front. These thunderstorms can produce heavy rain, damaging wind, and possibly produce tornadoes. This line of storms should move through the county through mid-day and the afternoon.

Adams said residents should be aware of changing conditions. In case of a tornado, take shelter inside a sturdy building. Stay in an interior room on the lowest floor of the building.
