The official arrival of Santa Claus to Atmore will be this evening as the finale of the Atmore Twilight Christmas Parade. That arrival begins a series of appearances Santa is expected to make throughout the city leading up to Christmas.

Frontier Communication Solutions is sponsoring An Evening in the Park with Santa at Heritage Park Tuesday evening to allow more children to catch a glimpse of the jolly elf in person.

The Atmore Area Chamber of Commerce is coordinating the event, which will include more than just a visit with Santa.

Chamber Secretary Shelly Williams said the event is being planned as a fun, family event for area residents.

“The event is free and is a wonderful opportunity for our residents to meet Santa,” Williams said. “It is just a great way for making memories for the children of Atmore.”

As part of the evening’s festivities, refreshments will be available at no cost to those attending, Williams said.

“We will have free refreshments for the evening,” Williams said. “We will have hot chocolate and some great homemade chili made by the ladies of the Poarch Creek Indian Sail Center. It’s really good and we’re excited about the evening.

For those looking for something fun, a hayride is being planned and entertainment will also be provided with musical selections during the event.

Williams said once Santa makes his way into the cabin at Heritage Park, photographs will be made as children meet to share their wishes for the holiday.

Hursh Photography will be on hand with a variety of offerings for those who want to have a photographic memory of the evening.

Packages are $10 and $20 and offer a variety of sizes. The $10 package will include one 5×7 and four wallet sized photos; the $20 package will include your choice of three 5×7 and eight wallets or one 8×10 and one 5×7 and eight wallets.

“We are looking forward to this evening with Santa,” Williams said. “Santa will arrive at the park at 5 p.m. and will remain at the cabin until 8 p.m.”
