Brewton Police have arrested two Brewton women on charges of possession of a controlled substance after responding to calls at area businesses.

Autumn Lynn Ready was arrested Dec. 29, 2010 when she was found to be in possession of hydrocodone and Alprazolam, according to Brewton Police Sgt. Andrew Casey.

“She was arrested on two separate counts of possession of a controlled substance,” Casey said. “Cpl. Kevin Durden made the arrest on Ms. Ready at Walmart when she was found to be in possession of two different controlled substances.”

Casey said Hydrocodone is the main active ingredient found in Lortab and Alprazolam is the main active ingredient in Xanas.

Durden, with the assistance of Brewton Police Office Russell Pintado, made an arrest on Jan. 4 with a second female facing drug charges, Casey said.

“Our officers went to Pic-n-Sav to investigate a call regarding two individuals who appeared to be highly intoxicated,” Casey said. “When our officers made contact with one of the subjects and discovered the second subject in a vehicle at the business.”

Sheila Jackson was arrested after officers identified her as one of the subjects of the call, Casey said. After making the identification, officers searched the suspect’s vehicle where pills were found.

“The pills located in the vehicle were identified as containing Alprazolam,” Casey said. “Alprazolam is a controlled substance and is the main ingredient found in Xanax.”

While investigating the call at the Douglas Avenue location, officers discovered the second subject of the call in a vehicle.

“Officers located the second subject that they had received a call on,” Casey said. “The second subject was found passed out in a vehicle in the parking lot.”

Jimmy Jackson was arrested for public intoxication at the time of the investigation, Casey said.

All three of the suspects were transported to the Escambia County Detention Center where they were booked and jailed on the charges against them.
