The Atmore United Fund was given a boost Wednesday morning when it accepted a donation of more than $1,300 from Tiger-Sul Products, pushing the 2011 fundraising campaign over the halfway mark.

According to Lee Ann Allen, vice president of the Atmore United Fund, Tiger-Sul’s corporate headquarters gives a donation every year to the communities in which they have work. This year the company was able to give $1,365 to help with the current goal of the United Fund.

“We have a goal of $50,000 and we have collected about $26,000 so far,” Allen said. “We will wrap up in April and we still need donations from individuals as well as corporate funds. I think we will make our goal and are definitely working on it. We still have some fundraisers coming up.”

Shannon Singleton, who is the office manager at Tiger-Sul, which is located in Atmore’s Industrial Park, said the company always tries to help within the communities they serve.

“We summit to the corporate office the name or names we wish to give to and this is their way of giving back to the community,” Singleton said.

Tiger-Sul is the local producer of fertilizers and is a part of the H.J. Baker & Bro., Inc. based in West Port, Conn.
