Brewton, Atmore men arrested by Drug Task Force, Brewton PD

Drug task force officers and Brewton police arrested two Escambia County men in the Springhill community Wednesday night after investigating complaints about drug activity at house on Weston Drive, authorities said.

Task force agents and police officers obtained a warrant to search at home at 96 Weston Dr., where they arrested John Staley, 55, who lives at the house, and charged him with unlawful possession of marijuana and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.

In addition, Brewton Police Officer Russell Clauzell stopped a vehicle that had just left the Weston Drive residence in a traffic stop on Mildred Street in Brewton.

Officers found marijuana and a large amount of cash on the driver after he gave permission for a search, authorities said.

Willie Frank Green II, 34, of Ed Thomas Road in Atmore, was charged with two counts of unlawful possession of marijuana, unlawful possession of a controlled substance (cocaine) and two counts of unlawful distribution of a controlled substance (cocaine and marijuana).

Green was out on bond on a charge of unlawful distribution of a controlled substance, and his bond was revoked.

The vehicle Green was driving was seized.

Both suspects were still jailed as of Friday afternoon.
