Van, motorcycle collide

Two people were injured on Monday afternoon when a motorcycle and Dish Network van collided on Hwy. 31 near Industrial Drive.|Photo by Chandler Myers

Witnesses stopped along side Hwy. 31 to watch and assist emergency personnel at mile-marker 39.5 after a midday collision between a motorcycle and a Dish Network van on Monday afternoon.

The accident, which occurred at 12:30 p.m., involved a 1999 Honda CBR and a 2008 Chevrolet van and sent the two occupants of the motorcycle to the hospital.

Andress G. Robles and his passenger, Jamie Mondaea, 44, of Atmore were traveling on Hwy. 31 when the collision happened with the van being driven by Don Taylor of Atmore.

Robles and Mondaea were injured as a result of the accident.

Emergency personnel quickly responded to the accident with officers from the Atmore Police Department and deputies from the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office being the first to arrive on the scene. Atmore Ambulance responded to the scene to assist with the injuries to Robles and Mondaea.

According to a witness who walked up to the scene of the accident, one of the occupants of the motorcycle was on his way to work at Masland Carpets.

The extent of the injured parties are unknown, but Atmore Ambulance transported them to Atmore Community Hospital.
