United Fund seeks support

With little more than a month left to go, the United Fund is urging people to step up and help make the goal of $50,000.

“We have about $33,500 collected and about $16,500 away from our goal,” said Lee Ann Allen, chairperson with United Fund. “We still have a few things going on including Mayfest on May 7. Between now and then we will be selling tickets on a Half and Half Raffle, where half the money will go to the winner and half to the United Fund. The more tickets that are sold, the bigger the pot will be.

“We are also organizing a basket of goodies to raffle off at Mayfest,” she added. “We don’t know exactly what will be in the basket at this point, but it will be a nice basket.”

Allen said that the Winter Fest that was held back around the first of February went very well.

“I am optimistic,” Allen said. “I just believe we can make our goal if everyone will work just a little harder. I still believe that we can make it between now and the end of May.”

Allen said that anyone who would like to buy a raffle ticket or tickets can call her at 446-3935, Pat Hetzel at United Bank at 368-2525 or Stephen Pettis at the Atmore Public Library at 368-5234.
