Gladdin L. Dreadin

ATMORE – Gladdin L. Dreadin, 81, of Atmore died Thursday, March 17, 2011 at his residence.

He retired from the U.S. Army as a Sgt. 1st Class after serving 20 years and also retired from the U.S. Postal Service after serving 20 years. He was an avid hunter and loved working in his vegetable garden. He was born on March 17, 1930 in Atmore to the late Alva and Betty Dorriety Dreadin.

Two brothers, Raymond A. Dreadin and Don Dreadin, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Della V. Dreadin; one son, Robert Dreadin and one brother, Lewis M. Dreadin, all of Atmore; one sister, Polly Smith of Monroeville and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, March 23, 2011 from Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Billy Hodges officiating. Interment will follow at 1:15 p.m. in Barrancas National Cemetery in Pensacola, Fla. with full military honors.

Family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Tuesday evening, March 22, 2011 at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.
