Country stars coming to Wind Creek

Country music lovers have a lot to look forward to this summer as Wind Creek Casino and Hotel near Atmore presents two artists known for their chart-topping music.

Travis Tritt will be in concert at the Amphitheater of the facility May 21 with Sara Evans performing June 11. Both shows will begin at 9 p.m.

Wind Creek Public Relations Director Megan Young said the events are performances music lovers shouldn’t miss.

“Travis Tritt’s upcoming performance promises to be one that you do not want to miss,” Young said. “Sara Evans is a multi-platinum recording artist who has been honored with numerous awards. It’s sure to be a great show.”

A series of open-air concerts will continue through the summer and into the fall at Wind Creek’s Amphitheater. An April 30 concert featuring Brian McKnight has already become a fast-selling concert event, officials said.

Tickets for all concerts presented at Wind Creek are on sell in the Essentials Gift Shoppe located inside Wind Creek Casino and Hotel and are also made available online at Ticketmaster.com and all Ticketmaster outlets. Prices for most concert events begin at $25.

Tritt is best known for music that bridges the gape between country, Southern rock and blues. His vocals and lyrics have earned him much acclaim throughout the music industry earning numerous platinum albums, number one hits, two Grammy Awards and four awards from the County Music Association. He has been a member of the Grand Ole Opry since 1992.

Tritt has earned the love of fans with such hits at “Put Some Drive in Your Country,” “Anymore,” “Here’s a Quarter (Call Someone Who Cares,” “Where Corn Don’t Grow,” and many others.

Evans was named the Academy of Country Music’s female vocalist of the year in 2006 and also received the Video of the Year Award from the same group that year. Along with her musical accomplishments, which include selling more than five million albums and four number one country singles, Evans is also known for her writing abilities in the world of publishing. She has written two novels with the second, “Softly and Tenderly,” being released this year. She is known for such musical hits as “Born to Fly” and “A Little Bit Stronger.” She is on a nationwide tour this summer with Rascal Flatts.
