A second murder trial for Brewton native Donnie Stallworth has ended in a hung jury.

Stallworth was on trial last week, charged in the 2009 shooting deaths of Byrd and Melanie Billings, a Pensacola area couple known for their adoption of many special needs children.

Stallworth, a 1999 T.R. Miller graduate, was charged in the Billings’ murders and home invasion robbery along with six other defendants. The mastermind of the crime, Leonard Patrick Gonzales, was found guilty last year and sentenced to death.

A judge set a third trial date in the Stallworth case for May 23, according to the Pensacola News Journal.
