Pollard-McCall school library burns

A fire that broke out Wednesday at the Pollard-Mccall Junior High School library damaged a majority of the facility.

A fire broke out in the Pollard-McCall Junior High School library Wednesday morning, appearing to destroy most of the facility.

The fire was contained to the library, however, and none of the students who were on campus for summer programs were in danger.

“This is a flesh wound,” Assistant Superintendent Randall Little said at the scene. “It could have been a lot worse.”

Firefighters from McCall, Brewton and other areas responded to the scene to put out the flames. Officials did not know how the fire started.
