Hunter education classes planned for Aug. 27-28

A Hunter Education Field Day Class and a Education Class will be held Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 27-28 at Reid State Technical College.

The Field Day Class, sponsored by Alabama Wildlife and Freshwater Fisheries, will be held Sunday, Aug. 28, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Reid State College on Highway 83 in Evergreen.

Students must first take the Internet/CD course on a computer and bring the printed report to the Field Day class with them. Access to this course can be found by logging on to www.outdooralabama.com/hunting/education/

CDs are available at the County Extension Office or by contacting the District 5 W&FF Headquarters at 251-626-5474.

Students must be at least 10 years of age to receive credit. Anyone born on or after Aug. 1, 1977 must pass a certified hunter education course before they can purchase a hunting license in Alabama.

The course is nationally accredited and free to the public. No pre-registration is required. Students will need their social security number and everything else will be provided.

The Hunter Education Class will be held Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 27-28.

The class will be held Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon and 1 to 5 p.m. On Sunday, the class will be from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Students will need to make lunch arrangements on Saturday.

The class will be held at Reid State College and students must be 10 years of age to receive credit.

Students must attend both days to receive credit. Field Day students need to attend on Monday, Nov. 28 only.
