The circus is coming to town, and this time it will benefit a new organization that is dedicated to helping Escambia County families cope with cancer.
The Yancey Jernigan Foundation is sponsoring Walker Brothers Circus which will be performing under the Big Top as part of its new 2011 North American Tour.
“We wanted to do something that would be a little unusual and entertaining for children,” said Yancey Jernigan Foundation founder Emmie Jernigan. “We haven’t had a circus in town for a while and it should be exciting. The foundation will receive part of the price of a ticket, especially those sold in advance. It’s a good way to have fun and raise funds for the organization.”
On Wednesday, Sept. 28, Walker Brothers Circus will arrive to perform two shows, one at 5:30 p.m and the second at 7:30 p.m. Advance ticket prices will be $12 and can be purchased at English Realty, Brewton YMCA or Verobella Salon. The sale of advance tickets benefit the Jernigan Foundation more, with a greater share of the ticket price going to the organization.
With the purchase of one adult ticket, two children, age 14 and under, are admitted free with a coupon which will be available at various local businesses. The circus promises productions that will dazzle and delight adults and children of all ages. The acts that will perform include aerialists, contortionists, horses, juggling, tons of comedy, along with an astonishing array of circus acts. Those who attend are promised to be be captivated by the clown’s comedic antics and plenty of fun in a show that will last about 90 minutes.
Walker Brothers Circus has issued an invitation to those in the media, town officials and circus sponsors to get in touch with the main office at 1-800-528-6577 if they would like to be a circus ringmaster to welcome everyone to a night of fun for all ages.
