Northview hosts an important district game this week as the Freeport Bulldogs come to town.

The Chiefs (3-2, 1-0) are coming off a bye week, which they used to get healthy and prepare for the two-time defending district champions.

Last season, the teams met twice with each coming away with a victory. Freeport won in district, while Northview picked up a win during their run in the playoffs.

The Bulldogs (5-1, 1-0) are coming also coming off of an open week, but defeated Baker 17-14 for their first district win on Oct. 7.

With Freeport coming to Bratt, Fla., the Chiefs know they are in store for a tough match, Northview head coach Sid Wheatley said.

“It’s always a challenge when we play Freeport, Wheatley said. “They have won the last two district titles and coach Anderson always does a great job. We are going to have to play mistake free and disciplined football if we want to win.”

As the Chiefs continue to prepare for their match up, they look to improve all aspects of their game.

Practices have been running well throughout the week, Wheatley said.

“Practices have gone great and the team is working hard,” he said. “We need to be focused and make great plays to win this game.”

The Chiefs and Bulldogs kick off at 7 p.m. on Friday at Northview.
