The Northview Chiefs begin their quest for a state championship this Friday when they host Wewahitchka High School at home in Bratt, Fla.

The Chiefs (6-3, 3-0) swept their district beating Jay, Freeport and Baker by wide margins and will look to contiune their strong 2011 season throughout the postseason.

The Wewahitchka Gators (7-3, 3-1) were a surprise turnaround this season after only winning two games in 2010.

The theme with the Gators has been their abiilty to score points this season.

Following two losses to open the season, Wewahitchka scored close to 50 points during a seven-game win streak and 40 to close out the season in a loss to West Gadsden High School.

The Gators offense is something that Chiefs will focus on in practice, Northview head coach Sid Wheatley said.

They have scored close to 50 points per game, so we’ll need to watch their offense and be ready for some big plays,” he said.

The Chiefs and Gators kick off at 7 p.m. on Friday at Northview High School in Bratt, Fla.
