William Herston Dorriety

POINT CLEAR, AL – William “Bill” Herston Dorriety, age 74, a native of Huxford, AL, a former longtime resident of Atmore, AL and a current resident of Point Clear, AL, passed away Thursday, January 12, 2012.

Herston was a former member of St. Robert’s Catholic Church, Atmore, and a current member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Fairhope.  He proudly served his country in the United States Army.  He was also a co-owner of Sunbelt Chemicals in Atmore.

Mr. Dorriety was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Elizabeth Grace Dorriety.

He is survived by his wife, Gwen Dorriety of Point Clear, son, Greg Dorriety and his wife Donna of Fairhope, daughter, Alison Neumann and her husband Alfred M., Jr., of Point Clear, grandchildren, William Herston Dorriety, II, A. Miles Neumann, III,  Alexander S. Neumann, William B. Neumann, brothers, John G. Dorriety of Atmore, Roy C. Dorriety of Attalla, AL, sister, Dorothy A. Dorriety of Atmore, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A memorial mass will be held from St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Monday, January 16, 2012, at 11:00am.

The family will receive friends in the St. Lawrence room at the church, following the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to Alabama Veteran’s Cemetery, Spanish Fort, AL, or the charity of you choice.
