Atmore Mayor Howard Shell announced during Monday’s City Council meeting a new business will join the ranks at Rivercane in coming months.

The locally owned Sizemore Creek Beverage Company, established in 2008 by Nancy Lowrey, has purchased property at Rivercane for a 10,000 square foot bottling facility Shell said Monday. The building and equipment for the addition is estimated at $1.5 million.

Sizemore Creek, which bottles coffee, tea, juices and bottled water, is Native American owned company that, according to company officials, began focusing more on bottled water in 2011. In 2012 Sizemore Creek became the only bottled water licensee in Minor League  Baseball (MiLB) and serves, among others, both the Mobile BayBears and the Pensacola Blue Wahoos. Officials said the company’s goal is to contract with 25 teams by the 2013 season.
